The Human Rights Union of Nagorno-Karabakh Refugees called on UNESCO to intervene and help preserve the Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh.

The Union brought the attention of the UNESCO Director-General to the alarming acts of vandalism perpetrated by Azerbaijani forces against the cultural heritage in Artsakh.

“Central to our mission is facilitating the repatriation process to Nagorno-Karabakh for affected Armenians and advocating for equitable compensation for their losses. We as well underscore the critical imperative of preserving the Armenian spiritual and historico-cultural heritage of Nagorno-Karabakh, which currently faces the imminent threat of destruction, constituting a grave violation of human rights,” the Union said in the letter.

The Union noted that the preservation of historical sites is of paramount importance, not only to Armenians but to the global community that values cultural diversity and heritage.
