Hamas was one of the first organizations to congratulate Azerbaijan in 2020 – Sergey Melkonyan

Many Armenians were deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Sergey Melkonyan, a research fellow at ARPI Armenia, explained whether Hamas is a pro-Armenian organization or not.

“Hamas was one of the first organizations to congratulate Azerbaijan in November 2020. That’s it. In this context, they are a close ally of Turkey and promote its agenda. Hamas is in the context of Turkey, Qatar, and many others. Yes, they supported Azerbaijan and welcomed its victory. Therefore, the interests of these countries coincide. However, Israel may have more demands regarding its weapons and ammunition and not send them to Azerbaijan,” Sergey Melkonyan concluded.
