When I started to be interested in cosmetic formulation, I could not imagine that this profession would become the meaning of my life, Asya Grigoryan, BBA ORGANIC founder and natural cosmetics formulator, said in an interview with Alpha News.

“I started working on cosmetic formulation back in the years when I lived in Armenia, although I worked as an engineer at the same time. The reason why I left my job as an engineer and moved to the field of cosmetics is very simple. I had acne and couldn’t solve this problem. At some point, I realized that to solve my problem, I needed to understand what the skincare products I use in my daily life are made of. That’s how I became a cosmetic formulator—the profession that has become the meaning of my life after 21. 4,5 years ago, I moved to the US, and I was faced with the choice of either working as an engineer in the local market or starting my own company. My choice was obvious.

A few months after moving to the US, the pandemic started, but unfortunate as it was, it was an advantage for me. I found myself locked in the house and spent all my time and energy learning how to set up a cosmetics company in accordance with local rules and laws in California. The biggest challenge was that I had no idea how to start a business in the US. We didn’t know where to start, we were constantly reading, consulting lawyers, and spending our resources just to understand where to start,” Grigoryan said.

Speaking about the role of the Armenian community in the development of the company, she noted that without the help and support of the Armenian Diaspora, she would not have been able to create her own company.

“When we started our advertising campaigns, I was just surprised to see how quickly our Armenian community started spreading them. The community supported me as a young Armenian woman entrepreneur who founded her company in Los Angeles. They were sharing my page, videos, and recommendations, for which I am extremely grateful,” Grigoryan concluded.
