A protest was held today outside the UN office in Yerevan by families of soldiers held in Azerbaijani prisons and missing during the Artsakh war. Dissatisfied with the inaction of the Armenian government, citizens demanded that the UN take steps to return the Armenian prisoners.

Aida Abrahamyan, who settled in the city of Artashat from the Artsakh city of Hadrut, has not heard from her brother Nelson Abrahamyan for about 4 years. According to her, her brother has voluntarily participated in the 44-day war since September 27. Nelson Abrahamyan has been reported missing since October 4. However, Aida claims that her brother is in captivity.

“My brother turned 50 in a Baku prison. I ask where my brother is. He is not a needle to get lost. He is not among the dead, DNA is not identified, then where is my brother? Why doesn’t the Armenian leader care who he is going to sign a peace treaty with if we still have captives in Baku? If Pashinyan’s child goes missing, won’t he think about where his Ashotik is?

So now I ask: where is my brother? Two or three months ago, we met with Pashinyan, and he said that Aliyev almost swore that he had no captives. If he believes Aliyev’s vows, how can I believe him? I don’t acknowledge Pashinyan, he should get lost! Someone who will return our prisoners should come instead,” says Aida, who has not heard from her brother for 4 years.
