2,645 heavy trucks piled up at Verkhny Lars checkpoint

The number of heavy trucks waiting for the resumption of traffic on the Georgian Military Road closed due to bad weather has reached 2,645, the website of the North Ossetian Traffic Management Center reports.

Travel on the road was limited in the evening of November 26 due to bad weather; the next day the road was completely blocked. On November 27, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of North Ossetia reported that the movement of all types of vehicles through the Vladikavkaz-Lars section in the direction of exit from Russia is prohibited until a special order.

It should be noted that the Georgian Military Road is the only land route linking Armenia, Russia and Georgia.
