42,716 forcibly displaced persons from Artsakh have already been registered in Armenia. Armen Ghazaryan, Head of the Migration Service of Armenia, said during a press conference, adding that priority was given to individuals over 63 years old to avoid problems related to receiving a pension.
“13,747 citizens out of 42,716 were over 63, which is the retired population. The problem regarding pensions has been solved,” Ghazaryan said.
Ghazaryan noted that the service is making attempts to manage the situation more effectively.
“We are trying to completely switch to electronic registration; it just cannot be applied only to those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. It is a huge undertaking that requires a certain amount of time,” Ghazaryan said.
