‘A strong leader is the one under whose rule no one dares to set foot in your country’ – Narek Karapetyan

“We need a strong leader—strong, but not the kind of strong our friends imagine today. Strong is not the one who shouts, makes noise or insults people. Strong is the person under whose rule no one dares to set foot in your country,” said Narek Karapetyan, coordinator of the “Our Way” movement, after the year-end meeting.

“With a strong leader, peace is guaranteed. The leader is the guarantor of peace, while a weak leader brings us wars, as we have seen—three wars in seven years. Our leader behaves obediently abroad, doing whatever he is told. But inside the country, he pretends to be strong and imprisons his opponents,” he said.

According to Karapetyan, a true leader is someone who is strong abroad, who resists, and who manages to make others agree with him without conflict, while being magnanimous toward the opposition at home.
