Israeli political expert Alexander Tsinker commented on the statement of the U.S. Department of State that the peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan would come soon in an interview with Alpha News.

According to him, the USA want to withdraw Russia from the South Caucasus and take part in signing of the peace treaty.

“The USA want to show some results in the foreign policy before the 2024 presidential elections, since they did not succeed in the foreign policy, especially after the humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan. They want to take part in signing of the peace treaty to give credits to the administration of U.S. President”, the political expert noted.

Tsinker also expressed his doubts about the statement of Matthew Miller, the Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, on the effective role of Türkiye in the negotiation process.

“The U.S. is playing a certain game with Türkiye, the relationship heats up quickly. Taking into account that Türkiye is a NATO member, the U.S. is making overtures to Ankara. I really doubt that Türkiye could help because it is virtually Azerbaijan. They even say it themselves: one nation, two states. In this case, Armenia also need a country which fully support it”, the expert concluded.
