Aliyev hopes to get more from Pashinyan than through war — Artur Martirosyan
The so-called “Crossroads of Peace” is actually nothing special, Artur Martirosyan, senior consultant at CMPartners and negotiations specialist, told Alpha News.
“Aliyev hopes to get more from Pashinyan than through war. We have known about his plans since the 1990s. When they created the ‘Western Azerbaijan’ project, they were not even close to capturing any territory, but they already had this project in development. Aliyev constantly talks about this. This is not just a tactical move to get something at the negotiating table. This is their long-term strategic plan, and they are moving towards its implementation,” the expert noted.
According to the expert, Armenians and Turks will not be able to live together, no matter how much the authorities try to claim the opposite.
“The so-called ‘Crossroads of Peace’ is actually nothing. All the countries neighboring us are in another camp, and Pashinyan is trying to leave this camp. They tell him that he remains in this camp and does not cooperate with their enemies, or he goes wherever he wants, but without them.
Our pro-Western or neoliberal political forces tell us, you are nationalists, you hate Turks, and we suggest being more tolerant, living with them, and there is no problem for them to come and live here. However, this will not lead to anything good,” Artur Martirosyan concluded.
