Aliyev issues another ultimatum to Armenia: return of Azerbaijanis and constitutional changes

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in his address to the participants of the international conference on “Return to Western Azerbaijan as an important condition for the rule of human rights”, said that “Armenian society harbors deep hatred towards Turkic peoples, dreams of ‘Great Armenia’ persist, and territorial claims to Azerbaijan and Turkey are enshrined in the country’s constitution.”

According to him, “Armenia must renounce territorial claims against neighboring states and take steps to restore and protect the cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis.” Aliyev also said that “Armenia should clearly state its position on the terms and conditions of the return of the so-called ‘Western Azerbaijanis’” and added that the Azerbaijani side expects the Armenian leadership to welcome “representatives of the community”.
