During an international conference in Baku, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev commented on the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace talks and their prospects.

“What is happening now on our border shows that we do not need mediators. If no one uses it for their political interests, if they leave us alone, sooner or later we will reach an agreement. We are closer to peace than ever before. We could not agree even under the Madrid principles; we did not even have a draft peace treaty, and today we have one. Of course, we need to discuss the details. The parties need time. If the agreement is signed, this will be a historical event for both countries. What matters is that both countries have the political will to sign it,” Aliyev said.
