ANCA organizes event in US Congress on rights of Artsakh Armenians

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) organized a two-day discussion on Capitol Hill on the topic “Reversing Genocide: Securing the Rights and Safe Return of Artsakh’s Indigenous Armenians,” the committee reported.
In her remarks, the Lemkin Institute’s Dr. Elisa von Joeden-Forgey delivered a stark warning about Azerbaijan’s ongoing genocide targeting Armenians, referring to it as the “Second Armenian Genocide. She underscored the threat to Armenian sovereignty, both within the South Caucasus and beyond, including regions such as Jerusalem’s Armenian Quarter.
Senator Ed Markey stated that he will continue to work to bolster the will, the rights, and the freedoms of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, including their right to return to their homeland.
Congressional Armenian Caucus Co-Chair Frank Pallone paid special attention to the right of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh to return to their historical homeland.
The speakers underscored the importance of the Artsakh people’s right to return safely, the need to work with the American side in this direction, increase humanitarian aid provided to Armenia, provide military assistance to Armenia, halt US assistance to Azerbaijan, as well as hold Baku accountable for its war crimes.
