The number of deaths in the army in non-combat conditions is dynamically growing, said Andranik Yeghoyan, Head of the Unit for Protection of Rights of Military Servicemen of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
“This demonstrates the most serious problems related to discipline in the armed forces.
63 deaths were recorded in the army in 2018. In 2019, the number of deaths was 49. In 2020, it increased to 51. 58 cases were reported in 2021. 64 deaths were reported in 2022, and more than 64 in 2023.
The situation is the same with self-injuries: 65 cases in 2020, 77 cases in 2021, 108 cases in 2022,” Yeghoyan said.
