Andrey Areshev: Pashinyan’s policy is directed towards regimes hostile to Russia
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political expert Andrey Areshev commented on the visit of the Armenian Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs to Ukraine.
According to the expert, the active contacts between Kyiv and Yerevan fit entirely into the current foreign policy of the Nikol Pashinyan government.
“Pashinyan’s foreign policy involves the diversification of foreign policy contacts towards regimes that are openly hostile to Russia. I believe that one way or another, this was discussed earlier, but now we are simply seeing the long-standing ideas in practice. It is possible that they were suggested by those who are now working closely with Pashinyan and his foreign policy team, whose efforts he commended recently.
I think that based on the results of this trip, which will be quite long—8 days—we will apparently receive more detailed information. I assume that this is due to the fairly large and well-organized Ukrainian Armenian diaspora. In addition, there may be various projects related to interaction between Yerevan and Kyiv, and there may be the use of some lobbying opportunities of Ukrainian Armenians. There are also other assumptions related to financial support, various types of awareness campaigns and lobbying campaigns. I think that we will see more details on this matter,” the political expert said.
