Andrey Klimov: Only Russia can be a real guarantor of security for the Armenian people

For the Armenian people, only Russia can be a real guarantor of security, but the Americans are trying to create another center of tension in the Caucasus, Russian senator Andrey Klimov told reporters on Thursday.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Russian peacekeepers failed to cope with their task in Nagorno-Karabakh, at the same time he doubted that the situation in the region would have been better without them.

“Only our country can be a real guarantor of security for the Armenian people from all countries of the world,” the senator said.

At the same time, he noted that the United States, realizing that sooner or later the Ukrainian adventure would end, and, not in their favor, “are preparing new areas of tension.”

According to him, Washington has never hidden that it is going to continue to escalate the situation in the Caucasus and try to destabilize Russia.

“There is nothing new here,” he added.

According to Klimov, whatever politician in Armenia is in power now, the US would either try to remove him or make him pro-American. “Judging by what we hear, for the USA this story is one of the first in the post-Soviet space,” Klimov said.
