Political scientist, senior lecturer at the Department of International and Public Law of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Igor Semenovsky commented live on Alpha News on Russian-Armenian relations, noting that politics will entail an economic breakdown in relations.
“Tension in Russian-Armenian relations has been going on for several years now. From some fragments, a general picture of the course of a certain drift of Armenia from the general Eurasian integration into the bosom of the so-called Euro-Atlantic family is beginning to emerge. All this raises questions for Russia, as an ally, regarding legal, historical, intercultural, international relations with Armenia and the traditionally friendly, fraternal state. Yes, we understand that a lot has already been done.
Some lines have been passed that relate to various aspects of interaction in the military-technical and humanitarian spheres, even in trade and economic spheres, despite the unprecedented growth in trade turnover between Russia and Armenia and the EAEU. And of course the anti-Russian rhetoric continues…” he said.
Semenovsky emphasized that in 2023, Armenia’s trade turnover with the EAEU amounted to $7.1 billion, that is, this is an increase of 3 times over the last 3 years and almost 5 times over the last 8 years, and “the economic track demonstrates unique results in terms of numbers “
