Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev convened a meeting of the Security Council and demanded explanations and an official apology from Iran. He emphasized that Baku does not intend to tolerate the “unjustified terrorist act” committed against the country.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, in an interview with the Azerbaijani outlet AnewZ, said that Tehran had not carried out strikes against Azerbaijan. According to him, Iran’s policy is to target only military facilities of its adversaries—the United States and the Zionist regime—which operate in the region and are used to attack Iranian civilians.
Aliyev noted that the authorities will keep the people informed of developments. He stressed that the Ministry of Defense’s statement has already been published in the press, and added that any hostile force acting against Azerbaijan will face the “iron fist.”
