Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, head of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, will be transferred from the penitentiary to the Izmirlian Medical Center tomorrow, December 16.

It was previously planned that the Archbishop would be transferred to the Izmirlian Medical Center today for examinations and a subsequent surgery, but the hospitalization was postponed due to a court hearing, Archbishop’s lawyer Marine Farmanyan confirmed to NEWS. am.

“Today, a session will be held at the Criminal Court of Appeals to review the defense’s appeal against the verdict, demanding acquittal. The prosecution’s appeal will also be considered, they are petitioning for a harsher sentence for the Archbishop,” Marine Farmanyan said.

The lawyer noted that at present the Archbishop’s health condition is assessed as stable, and he will attend the court hearing scheduled for 3:30 p.m. today.
