If we want to defeat Azerbaijan, first of all we need to change the government, political scientist Armen Badalyan told Alpha News.

“The Azerbaijani Army had military superiority over the Artsakh Defense Forces, but it did not adopt or learn the lessons of the special operation. On September 19, it made many mistakes and fought the same way as in 1992-1994. It is just that now the Azerbaijani army has a great advantage in the quantity and quality of military equipment, but in combat, this is of secondary importance,” Badalyan noted.

The political scientist is convinced that the fate of Artsakh would be different today if Armenia had stood next to it․

“In the war, the primary things are reason and skill, which were absent in the enemy army. Although there were many of them, the Armenian side was better prepared for such military operations and was more motivated. If Armenia had not stepped aside and taken part in the military operation, we would not have said that the Azerbaijani side had lost, but we would not have said that they had won either. If we want to defeat Azerbaijan, the Armenian government must first change. We need the government that wants to liberate Artsakh,” Badalyan said.

According to our interlocutor, the situation now is not very critical, and there is an opportunity to change what we have today. The political scientist suggested several options․

“If I say that the situation is already critical, then this is not true. If I say we have already dug a grave pit, this is also not entirely true. We need to change the military command of the army. We can address deficiencies in some areas of military technology. We have one ally, Iran, which is interested in the Artsakh issue receiving a slightly different solution, although some of the statements being made are not so important. We should not be deceived by these statements either,” Badalyan concluded.
