Armenia and Azerbaijan are discussing the withdrawal of troops from the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during a joint press conference with his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsakhkna.
He noted that the agreement between the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia and the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan is not the only conference-building process.
“Other ideas have been discussed and will be discussed. For example, the withdrawal of troops from the Armenian-Azerbaijani interstate border. We believe that the withdrawal of troops will indeed have a positive effect and will help to avoid a new possible escalation. I’m not saying that we have an agreement here. This is an idea that is under discussion,” Mirzoyan said.
However, the main process, according to him, is the negotiation process around the peace treaty.
“I think Azerbaijan must return to the negotiating table in the format of meetings. We have already said that most of the work has been done, and now we need to meet and agree around the final wording of significant issues,” the FM added.
