Chair of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakytzhan Sagintayev, during the plenary session of the Eurasian Economic Forum ‘Digitalization in Modern Realities: an Imperative to Ensure the Four Freedoms’ in Yerevan, presented the concept of Digital Union on the integration of digitalization processes within the EAEU.

According to him, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are implementing a pilot program on identification of citizens.

“The formation of a mutually recognized system of identification, authentication of citizens and legal entities of the countries of the union without data transfer is significant. The pilot project on mutual recognition of the mentioned systems is already being implemented by the Commission together with colleagues from Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan is in the process of joining the pilot,” he said.

Sagintayev presented the Commission’s vision of digitalization processes within the Eurasian Economic Union.

“Relying on the successful practice of national governments and utilizing the possibilities of the integrated information system, we put forward the idea of Digital Union. Its mission is to demonstrate to our peoples and businesses the real benefits of Eurasian economic integration. At the same time, we took into account the unconditional inviolability of the digital sovereignty of the member states,” the Chair of the EEC Board said.
