Armenia earns first medal at World Weightlifting Championship

European champion Gor Sahakyan, 20, was ranked third at the World Weightlifting Championship in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Sahakyan registered a result of 312 kg in total.

In snatch, he lifted a barbell weighing 142 kg on the 3rd attempt, winning a small silver medal. In CI&Jerk, he was also able to lift a barbell weighing 170 kg. It is Armenia’s first medal at this World Weightlifting Championships.
