Armenia FM and US Deputy Assistant Secretary discuss Yerevan-Baku normalization

On September 19, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received Joshua Huck, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, the press center of the Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
The interlocutors discussed the bilateral agenda as well as regional issues.
Both sides emphasized the importance of joint efforts undertaken to reach a new milestone, namely to develop strategic partnership in bilateral relations between Armenia and the United States, and outlined the next steps. Alongside deepening of the political dialogue, the prospects of enhancing sectoral cooperation, including aimed at promoting bilateral trade, were touched upon.
Mirzoyan noted: “The relations between our countries have recently been evolving with intensive dynamics, enriched by new dimensions, building on strategic dialogue. We are keen to further enhance our active engagement in various domains.”
In the regional context, Ararat Mirzoyan and Joshua Huck discussed issues on the normalization process of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The head of Armenia’s Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of avoiding artificial impediments on the path to signing the peace treaty, drafted after two years of negotiations, and to sign with the agreed-upon text, aimed at ensuring lasting peace in the South Caucasus.
Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s interest in the unblocking of regional communications based on well-known principles.
