Humanitarian aid from Armenia has reached Syria. As reported earlier, on March 20, the government decided to open the Margara checkpoint on the border with Turkey from March 21 to March 31 to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian cargo to Syria via Turkey.

Alpha News discussed this with Zarmig Boghikian, editor of Aleppo’s Kantsasar weekly.

“The Armenian government has decided to send humanitarian aid to Syria following discussions during working meetings between the respective departments in Armenia and Syria about the issue of humanitarian assistance.

The aid reached Aleppo by land. It contains 80 tons of goods—primarily medicine, with the remainder comprising essential food supplies. The Aleppo governor has taken responsibility for distributing the relief supplies. The deputy governor and officials responsible for foreign relations expressed gratitude to Armenia and the Armenian people. The aid is directed to the people of Syria. I believe that the governor’s administration will distribute this aid in Aleppo and other cities as they see fit,” Zarmig Boghikian said.
