Armenia must weigh all risks before changing course – Alexey Overchuk

Speaking at the SCO summit in Tianjin, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated that Armenia’s potential withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in favor of integration with the European Union (EU) is a decision that should be made solely by the Armenian people.
He recalled that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently emphasized the impossibility of holding simultaneous membership in both the EAEU and the EU. In this context, Overchuk stressed that if such a choice arises in the future, Armenia must carefully consider all circumstances that could influence its final decision.
“If this question is ever raised, I am confident that Armenia will take into account the full range of factors affecting the choice of its development path,” said the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, expressing hope for a balanced and responsible approach from Yerevan.
