Malek Dudakov, a political scientist specializing in American studies, spoke to Alpha News about US President Donald Trump’s statement that he was the one who resolved the conflict between “the head of Azerbaijan and the other great guy.”

“In my view, this simply doesn’t matter for Trump. He’s not concerned with such details—whether the country is Armenia, Albania, Azerbaijan, or Kosovo. He doesn’t really delve into it. He’s not interested. What matters to him is the opportunity to speak publicly and claim that he made peace between everyone. The specific countries or conditions are secondary—just nuances. In this case, Trump is aiming for a Nobel Peace Prize, trying to present himself as a peacemaker and the most effective US president, compared to his predecessors. That is his main motivation, and all those inconvenient, unpleasant details simply do not interest him. At the same time, we should acknowledge that age plays a role in how frequently Trump makes verbal slips. Of course, it’s not at Biden’s level—not even close. But still, age plays its part: he is 79, and next year he’ll celebrate a major milestone—his 80th birthday. So I believe he will keep mixing things up more than once,” Dudakov said.
