Armenia takes forcibly displaced persons of Artsakh under its temporary protection

Today, the Armenian government has approved a decision to take the forcibly displaced persons of Artsakh under its temporary protection and grant them a status of refugees.

Granting such a status to refugees will clarify the legal status of the citizens forcibly displaced from Artsakh, the range of their rights and obligations. Persons taken under protection by force of law will get the status of refugees and the rights guaranteed by international law on refugees.
