At the moment, refugees who do not own property in Armenia receive monthly financial assistance in the amount of 40 thousand drams for renting housing and 10 thousand more for utility costs.
Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan has announced that from April 2025 only minors, pensioners, surviving relatives and disabled persons will receive assistance. The amount of assistance will also be reduced by 10 thousand drams. From July 2025 the amount of aid will be reduced by 10 thousand drams again and will amount to 30 thousand drams.
According to Prime Minister Pashinyan, these changes are aimed at encouraging able-bodied refugees to find job.
