Armenia wins first medal in World Wrestling Championship

The United World Wrestling World U-20 Championships started in Jordan on August 14. Armenia earned its first medal in freestyle wrestling. Edik Harutyunyan won bronze in the 57 kg weight category. At the start, Armenian wrestler secured a victory; however, later he was defeated by the American athlete.
Because the latter reached the finals, Edik Harutyunyan was given an opportunity to compete in the third-place match. Having won the third-place match with a score 6:3, Harutyunyan passed to the next round, where he defeated Azerbaijani Ruslan Abdullaev (8:4). On August 16, Mushegh Mkrtchyan (86 kg) and Knyaz Iboyan (92 kg) will compete for the bronze medal.
