Representatives of a number of agencies of Armenia and Turkey met at the border last month, Armenian Special Envoy, Deputy President of the Parliament Ruben Rubinyan told RFE/RL’s Armenian Service.

However, the sides did not provide official information about the meeting at that time. Rubinyan did not reveal many details even today, noting only that the sides assessed “technical needs, which will make it possible to use the border checkpoint on the Akhurik/Akyaka railroad.” According to him, “the meeting was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere.”

Special Representatives of Armenia and Turkey Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kılıç agreed during their meeting in the summer to jointly assess the technical needs for the possibility of crossing the border via the Gyumri-Kars railroad.
