Armenian athlete Allison Halverson, 31, took first place at the Women’s Decathlon World Championship.
Allison was supposed to be Armenia’s only representative in athletics at the Paris Olympics. However, for unknown reasons, the Armenian Olympic Committee did not include her in the national team. Yervand Mkrtchyan was sent instead.
During the Olympics, Allison participated in another competition where she set a world record in the 100-meter dash for the decathlon (11.92 seconds), as well as several national records for Armenia: in the pole vault, in the 100-meter hurdles, and in the overall decathlon score.
Allison Halverson scored 7,236 points, surpassing athletes from France and the USA.
