Armenian authorities give West opportunity to play on its chessboard, political scientist says
Speaking with Alpha News, Russian political scientist Nikolay Starikov commented on Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin’s statement that the Western agenda in the South Caucasus does not always correspond to the interests of the countries in the region.
“Everything that the West is doing now is directed against those whom the West considers its opponents. These are, first of all, Russia and China. Beijing and Moscow are posing a global challenge to Western hegemony. Therefore, all the policies that are being built with the West are all aimed at containing Russia and China. Policy in the Caucasus is no exception. So, we can evaluate any part of Western policy in this way and will never be mistaken. Nothing happens in politics for nothing,” Starikov said.
According to the expert, the Armenian authorities are giving the West the opportunity to play on its chessboard.
“Unfortunately, the current Armenian authorities are giving the West the opportunity to play on its chessboard. For those who do this and allow the West to come closer to them, it always ends badly. One of the latest examples is Ukraine, but there are countless similar examples. We can recall South Korea, which once played these games with the Americans, and it ended in a terrible war on the Korean Peninsula. The same goes for South Vietnam, which was once occupied by the Americans,” Starikov concluded.
