Armenian authorities spare no effort to prove that they strive for peace – Beniamin Matevosyan

Political scientist Beniamin Matevosyan, in an interview with Alpha News, commented on the contradictory statements coming from Azerbaijan and Armenia. One side is holding the flag of peace, while the other is putting forward new demands on a daily basis.

“If we are truly moving toward peace, beyond the fact that Pashinyan should receive certain bonuses during the pre‑election period—for example, Azerbaijani fuel—this must also be reflected through at least some changes in narrative. The Armenian authorities spare no effort to prove that they strive for peace. They are doing all of this at the level of statements. But what is being said in Azerbaijan?

Even at the narrative level we see, for example, that they say the Armenian state, statehood, is responsible for the so‑called occupation of Azerbaijani territories. This wording opens up a wide field for Azerbaijan’s actions, allowing them to put forward certain material and territorial demands against Armenia,” he noted.
