Armenian baritone Navasard Hakobyan wins third prize at 2023 Operalia Competition
Armenian singer Navasard Hakobyan became the third-prize winner at the 2023 Operalia International Opera Singers Competition.
Founded by the world-renowned Spanish opera singer Plácido Domingo, the competition was held from October 30 to November 5 in Cape Town, South Africa.
A total of 34 young vocalists from different countries around the world competed for the prizes. The representative of Armenia, baritone Navasard Hakobyan, was awarded the third prize and the special Don Plácido Domingo Ferrer Prize for the performance in the Zarzuela category.
It should be noted that soprano Juliana Grigoryan, representing Armenia at Operalia 2022, was awarded the first prize, and also won the Rolex Audience Prize.
