The ruling political force will attempt to eliminate all structures that, to some extent, do not align with its election campaign, political strategist Armen Badalyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

“Let’s not forget that the Armenian Apostolic Church is a networked institution. It has a clergy that interacts with the population for various reasons—birth, baptism, marriage, and so on. The Church can be considered an alternative source of information,” said Badalyan.

According to the political strategist, one of the reasons for the attacks on the Church is the election campaign, as well as the fact that the Church is a national institution. “The Armenian Apostolic Church is also a national institution, which is somewhat difficult to dismantle. To do so, one would need to replace the Catholicos, and the Prime Minister cannot do that—even if the Catholicos resigns,” he said.
