An Armenian church will be built in Simferopol, Russia, reports the website of the Crimean Armenian Community.

It is noted that the head of the Crimean Armenian Community, Georgy Hakobyan, recently met with the Primate of the Russian and New Nakhichevan Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Yezras Nersissian.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on topical issues, discussed the state of the Armenian churches in Crimea, the upcoming construction of an Armenian church in Simferopol, and further cooperation.

Hakobyan presented a memorable gift to Archbishop Yezras—a painting by the famous Russian artist Sergei Lobanov, ‘Eski-Crimea. Armenian Surb-Hach Monastery’.

Created in 1926, the painting has artistic and collectible value. It was purchased from the local gallery by the Primate of St. Yakob Church of Simferopol, Priest Nerses Khananyan, on the recommendation of the artist Samvel Asatryan.
