Armenian church to be consecrated in Russia’s Izhevsk

On September 12, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan, Primate of Russia’s and New Nakhichevan’s Armenian Diocese, received the newly elected head of the Armenian Church of Izhevsk, Gennady Elbakyan, accompanied by his spiritual pastor, Priest Hakob Saroyan.
During the meeting, the pastor presented the activities of the parish community of Izhevsk and told about the work on preparation for the consecration and opening of the newly built church, which are in the process of completion.
Archbishop Yezras instructed Elbakyan to make every effort for the benefit of social solidarity, strengthening of national and church life, and preservation of national identity among the younger generation. Having discussed organizational issues, the sides agreed to schedule this historic event for November.
