The Armenian community is under the control of Armenian centers, editor of Aleppo’s Gandzasar weekly Zarmik Boghikian told Alpha News.
“Most of the city of Aleppo is under the opposition’s control. People are cautious; sometimes there are clashes late at night, and sometimes there are airstrikes. People are very worried; it is mostly quiet during the day, but they try to leave their homes less.
The Armenian community is under the control of Armenian centers. They try to calm panicked people and provide for the needs of Armenians. For example, today there was a need for bread, which was partially provided. Our Armenian doctors are also ready to help everyone who needs medical care,” said Zarmik Boghikian.
She added that some people had moved to safer places.
“There are people who decided to leave for safer regions. Roads are currently closed. The Armenian community is still in Aleppo, but our schools are currently closed. We do not know what will happen in the coming days, and we are waiting. It is quite difficult to find food and household goods. People are left without work, so they may end up in a bad economic situation.
At the moment, our main task is to ensure the safety of the Armenian community. The community’s spiritual leaders and unions are sparing no effort to do everything possible to provide our Armenian community with everything they need and maintain the calmest possible environment,” concluded Zarmik Boghikian.
