Armenian customs will oversee control of the future Trump Route (TRIPP) within Armenia’s jurisdiction, announced Eduard Hakobyan, head of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia. According to him, the regulations and procedures of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will apply to this section.
Hakobyan emphasized that the principles established by the Washington agreements on August 8 ensure the full operation of Armenian state services, including at the border sections of the road.
“All types of services functioning at other borders must operate here as well—this means that the customs service will be active,” he stated.
Commenting on concerns raised by Russia’s Foreign Ministry regarding possible external presence at border checkpoints, the chairman clarified that the matter concerns “investment and institutional assistance, not operational foreign presence at customs posts.”
Hakobyan emphasized that Armenia’s current customs policy aims at “total simplification” to stimulate trade, pointing to automated release systems, 24/7 service for exporters, and a new notification system for remote processing. He added that a unified digital platform is being developed to reduce bureaucratic contact for businesses and citizens.
