Moscow gave Armenia’s leader the opportunity to say what he truly thinks about Russian–Armenian relations. This was stated live on Alpha News by international affairs analyst Grigor Balasanyan, commenting on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s visit to Moscow.

“This was a unique meeting, stripped of diplomatic niceties and caution. The parties spoke openly, and one got the impression that Moscow gave the Armenian leader the opportunity to express his genuine view of the bilateral relationship. This once again confirmed our warnings about the crisis in Russian–Armenian relations,” the expert said.

According to Balasanyan, the closer harvest season gets in Armenia, the more acutely farmers will feel the consequences of the Kremlin meeting.

“By winter, the consequences of the gas price increase will also make themselves felt, as the nuclear power plant has been taken offline for scheduled maintenance and will be out of Armenia’s energy system for approximately five months. This means the country will remain dependent on gas. The very gas that the Russian president alluded to on more than one occasion,” Balasanyan concluded.
