At the initiative of the Municipality of Kalamata, an event was organized at the memorial commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The event was attended by Tigran Mkrtchyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Greece; Bishop Sahag Yemishian, the Primate of the Armenian Church of Greece; Bishop Chrysostomos Savvatos of Kalamata; and other distinguished guests.

Before the official speeches, Bishop Sahag Yemishian held a requiem ceremony, Armenpress reports. Ambassador Mkrtchyan highlighted three key directions vital for preventing genocides: combating denial, incorporating genocide education into both university and secondary school curricula, and recognizing the importance of Days of Remembrance. He emphasized that in the context of the Armenian Genocide, these three aspects are actively upheld in Greece. The ambassador expressed gratitude to the government and people of Greece for their open support to Armenia and the Armenian people.
