Armenian government approves bill on launching EU accession process

On January 9, the Armenian government approved the draft law on launching the process of the country’s accession to the European Union (EU).

The matter was presented by Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who noted that “upon popular initiative, a draft law on the start of the process of Armenia’s accession to the EU has been submitted for the National Assembly discussion, and now the government must express a position.”
“We propose to express a positive position based on several circumstances,” he said.

The collection of signatures to submit the draft law to the parliament for discussion was held in September-October last year.
