An agreement on migration cooperation between the governments of Armenia and Kazakhstan was approved at a government session on April 30.

The agreement, signed on April 15, 2024, in Yerevan, will be sent to the parliament for ratification. The parties intend to establish fast and efficient procedures for regulating migration processes based on reciprocity, seeking to form a clear legal framework for bilateral cooperation.

The agreement provides for cooperation in several areas, including the exchange of statistical, legal, and scientific-methodological information, exchange of data on each other’s citizens, exchange of experience and practical assistance to solve emerging issues, protection of the right of residence of migrants and members of their families, and joint discussion of legal status of residence.

All these provisions will be implemented in accordance with the domestic laws and international obligations of the participating states. According to Armenia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the agreement’s ratification aligns with the goals outlined in the Armenian government’s program for 2021-2026 regarding cooperation within the CIS and deepening bilateral relations with member countries.
