The Armenian Foreign Ministry did not comment on whether the transfer of control over the possible Nakhichevan-Syunik-Azerbaijan communication road to a private company is being discussed with Baku.

“The Republic of Armenia constructively participates in the process related to unblocking communications in the region based on the principles of respect for sovereignty, national jurisdiction, equality and reciprocity,” the ministry said in response to Sputnik Armenia’s inquiry.

Earlier, political scientist Sergey Melkonyan said that Armenia and Azerbaijan discussed the possibility of transferring control over future communications to an international private security company during the latest meeting of foreign ministers. On August 31, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Armenia is ready to provide a road to connect Azerbaijan with Nakhichevan, while respecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of borders.
