Armenian Ombudsman continues to collect information on the unlawful interference of Vagif Khachatryan’s fundamental human rights

The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia continues to collect information on Azerbaijan’s unlawful interference in the fundamental human rights of Vagif Khachatryan.

In this context, it is important to note that Gagik Khachatryan joined the military on September 1, 1992 and after that participated in combat operations. Before, he worked in Stepanakert as an ordinary driver.

Thus, the statement of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan that on December 22, 1991 Vagif Khachatryan “committed a crime in the village of Meshali as part of Armenian armed formations” does not correspond to reality.

This information confirms the data collected and analyzed by the office of the Human Rights Defender, which is substantiated by archival documents, orders by commanders, certificates documenting Khachatryan’s military service, and testimonies of his family members.
