The Armenian National Assembly ratified the agreement on the status of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia (EUMA). The draft says that at the request of the Armenian side in 2022, the EU Council made an unprecedented emergency decision to deploy a civilian mission of EU observers on the interstate Armenian-Azerbaijani border for a two-month period from October 20 to December 19, 2022.

On January 23, 2023, the EU Council adopted a second decision on the deployment of a new civilian monitoring mission for a two-year period.

On December 11, 2023, the EU Council adopted a decision on the expansion of the mission, which improved the mission’s monitoring capabilities along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
