The Secretary of the Armenian Security Council humiliated his own people by blaming Russia for the loss of Karabakh, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a briefing, commenting on Armen Grigoryan’s statement that “Russia took Nagorno-Karabakh away from Armenia, returned it to Azerbaijan and left.”

“I believe that it is simply impossible to comment on certain things without having a medical education. Such figures, being government officials, are humiliating their own people. Armenian citizens defended their territory, sacrificed their lives, and believed that it was historically important. The ideology of Armenia as a state has been built on these theses for many years. They knew what they were fighting for, sacrificing their lives for, and leaving their wives and children widows and orphans. How can one betray their memory so cynically, nullify what once was called a feat in Armenia?

Who gave the right to the obvious timeservers, who are supported from the outside, to insult their own people in such a way? Perhaps it is the Armenian people who should answer this question. It is surprising to me how people can disparagingly treat the historical memory of their long-suffering nation, which has gone through many historical trials and in whose memory the tragic pages of modern history are so vivid,” Zakharova said.
