Armenian students win 4 gold, 1 silver medal at International Mathematics Competition

Armenian students won 4 gold and 1 silver medal at the International Mathematics Competition in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, the Ministry of Education reports.

A total of 401 students from 78 universities around the world participated in the International Mathematics Competition. Armenia was represented by Yerevan State University (YSU), with Vahagn Hovhannisyan, Hayk Karapetyan, Arman Fahradyan and Ruben Hambardzumyan winning gold and Hamlet Petrosyan claiming silver.

The YSU team ranked 8th in the team competition. The team was led by Karen Keryan, who coached students together with Vazgen Mikayelyan, Albert Gevorgyan and Tigran Hakobyan.

It should be noted that Karen Keryan and Tigran Hakobyan authored two of the ten tasks of the competition.
