Armenian team secures 11 medals at World Powerlifting Championship in Rome

The Armenian national team won nine gold and two silver medals at the World Powerlifting Championship in Rome, Italy, the press service of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports reported.

The winners in adult competitions were Edgar Badalyan (62 kg), Artyom Aloyan (85 kg) and Hayk Afyan (105 kg).
Sedrak Matsakyan (105 kg) and Ashot Antonyan (94 kg) became vice world champions.

Gor Markaryan (77 kg) and Artak Avetisyan (85 kg) became the winners in junior competitions, while Makar Tamrazyan (69 kg), Gor Hovhannisyan (105 kg) and Ara Khachatryan (85 kg) secured the victory among the adults.

Ara Khachatryan even managed to set a world record.

The World Powerlifting Championship took place from October 30 to November 2, with athletes from 16 countries participating.
