Armenia’s priority is to stop illegal border delimitation, says political scientist
The most important function of an interim government should be to establish internal solidarity, political scientist Ara Poghosyan told Alpha News.
“Interim governments, which are usually transitional governments, face many challenges. These problems are related to both external and internal processes. Therefore, I attach great importance to internal processes that mark the establishment of social solidarity. I think that the most important achievement and function of this government should be to establish internal solidarity and then hold early elections. These two factors are fundamental.
We can talk about the economy, security, and other multi-sectoral areas, but it is illogical to place high hopes that any interim government will be able to solve problems in these areas in a short period, be it 6 months or 1 year,” the political scientist said.
Poghosyan warned that Armenia’s priority at the moment is to stop the illegal border delimitation.
“During this period, it is extremely important to stop the ongoing process in which the interests of the Armenian people and the Republic of Armenia are not taken into account. I mean, work on the delimitation and demarcation of borders. The next step is to establish internal solidarity and erase all dividing lines,” Ara Poghosyan said.
Our interlocutor also emphasized that Armenia’s legislation is not suitable for the formation of an interim government.
“When we talk about early elections, we must keep in mind that our legislation is not adapted to the crisis situation. That is, both the party and electoral systems are not adapted to the situation Armenia faces today.
Today, Armenia faces both internal and external challenges, and domestic legislation, especially the political system, must comply with these basic principles. This requires very serious work on the part of competent persons,” Ara Poghosyan concluded.
